Settle-Carlisle Railway
Plan a day to explore the railway to its fullest, use it as your starting point for sightseeing e.g. Ribblehead for the famous viaduct and walking up Whernside.
Dent is worth a visit, though the walk back to the station is challenging!
When you arrive in Carlisle visit the castle, cathedral and Roman ruins.
Lancaster & Morecambe
Take the train from Giggleswick to Lancaster and Morecambe. See the statue of Eric Morecambe on the seafront, while eating the obligatory fish and chips enjoy the view across Morecambe bay to Grange over Sands and the Lake District.
In Lancaster, visit the castle and find out the history of the Pendle witches. There are several museums and the walk to the Ashton Memorial is definitely worth it.
Hawes and Gayle Mill
Visit the pretty Dales town of Hawes home of Wallace and Gromit’s favourite cheese Wensleydale – learn more at the Wensleydale creamery.
Gayle Mill, thought to be the oldest structurally unaltered cotton mill, is close to Hawes and was filmed with Guy Martin when it was being renovated.
Kendal
Around an hours drive away, Kendal is the gateway to the Lake District and the source of inspiration for Peter Rabbit and his friends adventures.
Leeds
For longer stays, visit the Victorian arcades for luxury shopping and indulge in the cultural heritage of the city.
Keighley
Nestled between Airedale and the Haworth Moorland, with a fascinating industrial and artistic heritage including being the home town of the Bronte sisters.
